Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis refers to a state in which the client becomes highly responsive to suggestions.

Hypnotherapy is supported with substantial scientific evidence from decades of neurological research.

Hypnosis is not sleep but the therapist will often require the individual to be relaxed and in a receptive state of mind.

What can Hypnotherapy treat?

Hypnotherapy is a safe, powerful psycho-therapeutic tool, which can be used to:

  • Break the negative cycle of depression and anxiety,
  • Help with addictions,
  • Anger,
  • Smoking,
  • Blood pressure,
  • Weight control,
  • Lack of confidence,
  • Insomnia,
  • IBS,
  • Relationship or marital difficulties,
  • Migraine,
  • Nail biting,
  • Nightmares,
  • Obsessions,
  • Panic attacks,
  • Fears and phobias,
  • Stress and many more.

Hypnotherapy uses the application of hypnotic techniques to bring about therapeutic change and is a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Our minds are incredibly powerful, and the ability to unlock and utilise that power is much easier than you may think.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy that has a different approach from most traditional therapies. Where most therapies are introspective, spending a lot of time understanding the problem and what caused it.

Here at Colette Cottle Hypnotherapy in Kirkham I concentrate on the solution – not the problem.

Why is this difference so significant? It is important because you attract what you ‘focus’ your attention and efforts on. Therefore, it makes sense to focus on the solution and answers rather than the problem.

Once you understand the concept of being ‘solution focused’, it is effortless to make those changes needed. This results in making better decisions by working towards your future and not dwelling on problems and behaviours of the past.

It makes more sense to look at where you are going, not where you have been. If you were driving from Preston to a different city, would you be looking out for signs for Preston? On the other hand, would be focusing on your destination, because that is where you want to be. It is the same in life; we need to focus on where we want to be.
